The National Statistical Bureau reports that in January-June 2026, tourist accommodation establishments were visited by 257,3 thousand tourists (15.8% more than in the same period of 2025 year), including 97,7 thousand resident tourists (38.0% of the total) and 159,6 thousand (62.0%) non-resident tourists. Increases in tourist accommodation were recorded in hotels and motels (+23.9%), tourist and agritourism pensions (+10.9%) and health care structures (+7.3%). At the same time, the number of tourists accommodated in hostels for visitors, apartment or room for rent decreased by 15.9% and in recreation structures – by 9.7%.

A significant share of the total number of foreign tourists accommodated were citizens of: Ukraine (39.5%), Romania (20.8%), the USA (3.5%), Italy (3.4%) Germany (3.3%), Turkey (2.7%), Israel and Poland (2.2 % each), and Great Britain (1.9%).
